Where did the name Stringtown come from?
"Stringtown" was the name used between 1850 and 1924 to describe the area now known as Lindon, Utah. During that time, the settlement of houses between Orem and Pleasant Grove was known as Stringtown because the houses were built along a single road, State Street. An old linden tree growing in the town inspired the current name, which was adopted on March 5, 1924 when the city was incorporated. Since Lindon City is not using the name Stringtown anymore, we decided to use it for our little town and our railroad.
